Cate girls volleyball pulled out a five-set victory over Santa Fe in the CIF-SS Division 7 Quarterfinals on Wednesday in Carpinteria.
The Rams came back from a 2-1 deficit to secure the win and punch their ticket to the semifinals, 25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 25-19, 18-16.
“Tonight we showed resilience, poise, patience and trust,” Cate head coach Jordon Dyer said. “I’m proud of our team for embracing the adversity and staying present throughout the match. Santa Fe played a great match, but we were able to outlast.”
The Rams will now hit the road to take on the California Academy of Math and Science in Carson on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Oyin Opawumi put together one of the best performances of her decorated Cate career, collecting 29 kills and 15 digs in the victory.
