Cate and Bishop clashed for a Tri-Valley League girls volleyball matchup on Friday night in the Brick House, and the Rams emerged victorious in five sets.

The Rams won the first two sets before the Cardinals came storming back with two straight wins, but Cate got the job done in the fifth, 25-17, 25-18, 24-26, 20-25, 15-13.

“Our kids battled tonight,” Bishop Diego head coach Dillan Bennett said. “Cate is a tough team and they played with a lot of heart tonight. It was clear they were hungry for a win, and we were a little flat.

“Cate was prepared and well-coached. Jordon and his staff do a great job getting the most out of their kids. We’ll learn a lot from tonight.”

Bishop Diego’s Sophie Otte had a monster game on the outside with 28 kills to go along with eight digs.

Meanwhile, Karina Urzua tallied nine kills and seven digs, and Natalie Chan collected eight kills, six digs and four aces.

The Cardinals (10-3, 1-1 Tri-Valley League) will be back in action on Saturday at the Viewpoint Invitational.
