Cate School is taking a new approach in administration with the appointment of Maude Bond as head of Admissions & College Counseling.

In the new role, Bond will lead both admissions strategy, as well as college counseling efforts, creating a student-centered experience from first inquiry through commencement, Cate School explained.

Bond previously built Cate’s nationally recognized College Counseling program, known for its personalized, data-driven approach with an emphasis on highlighting each student’s distinct strengths.

Bond brings a deep knowledge of Cate’s culture as well as a nuanced understanding of admission from her time as Director of Multicultural Recruitment at Columbia University, Cate School said.

“This aligns two important touch points in each student’s Cate journey under one cohesive vision, affirming and amplifying our commitment to nurturing our students to realize their distinct and limitless potential during a transformative time of life,” said Cate Head of School Alex Lockett.

The transition of Bond’s role will occur over the next two school years, underscoring Cate’s commitment to thoughtfully nurturing each student’s journey and ensuring that the process is seamless, effective, and innovative, the school said.

Founded in 1910, Cate is a 9th-12th grade, four-year coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school in Carpinteria.
