Cate swimming turned in a strong performance at the CIF-SS Div. 3 Championship Prelims on Wednesday, including four school records.

In total, the Rams had 13 swimmers advance to the Finals on Friday.

The Cate boys 200 medley relay squad of Josiah Hansen, Phin Stephenson, Zach White and Joba Samson came together to set a new school record time of 1:39.29 and qualify for the finals.

Meanwhile, the tandem of Stella Rogers, Maddie Kollock, Makayla Niu and Jen Won broke the girls 200 freestyle relay record with a mark of 1:45.78. They will also swim on Friday.

In the 100 breaststroke, Devon Liang captured the program record with a time of 1:01.13. However, one heat later, his teammate Phin Stephenson swam the race in 58.99 seconds to earn the school record.

Individually, Wil Rivera and Ben White led the way as the lone Rams to advance to the finals in two events. Rivera will swim in the 200 and 500 freestyles while White will compete in the 200 medley and the 100 backstroke.

Also moving on for individual events were Josiah Hansen (100 backstroke), Maddie Kollock (100 freestyle), Stella Rogers (100 freestyle), Joba Samson (50 freestyle), Jen Won (100 butterfly), Phin Stephenson (100 breaststroke) and Elliot Paige (500 freestyle).
