The Cate boys soccer team once again took center stage during the winter season in Carpinteria, rolling to another Tri-Valley League title.

While the Rams on the pitch found plenty of success and pulled in impressive All-League honors, the other four sports on campus fielded standout student-athletes who garnered All-League recognition of their own.

Boys Soccer

The Rams went a perfect 8-0 against Tri-Valley League opponents, resulting in head coach Jorge Reynoso being named the Tri-Valley League Coach of the Year.

In between the lines, seniors George Marin and Charlie Dorion led standout seasons on the offensive and defensive ends, respectively, for Cate. Marin earned the Tri-Valley League Offensive Player of the Year award, while Dorion was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.

The tandem of senior midfielder Dimash Aunarbek, senior left back Kamil Abdul-Nafeo, senior midfielder Quincy Thorne and junior midfielder Teke Meisel shined as well en route to All-League First Team selections.

The talented Cate squad was well-represented on the All-League Second Team as well, with senior center back Alex Gallegos, senior forward Kiy Barry, sophomore center back Nicholas Wright De La Cal and freshman midfielder Alden Rosenfield gracing the team.

The team’s All-League honorees were capped off with All-League Honorable Mention nods for junior forward Miles Thompson, junior left wing Nolan Montoya and sophomore goalkeeper Alejandro Sandoval.

Girls Soccer

The Cate girls soccer team had a successful season of their own, reaching the CIF-SS Division 7 semifinals after a solid regular season showing.

Senior defender Lauren Hubbs, junior midfielder Fiona Pan and junior forward Precious Adjei covered all three phases of the field for the Rams and were named to the All-Tri-Valley League First Team.

The senior duo of midfielder Claire Gianoni and defender Tania Molina wrapped up their Cate careers with All-League Second Team selections.

The trio of senior midfielder Nika Iverson, sophomore forward Violet Guilbert-Neal and sophomore forward Harper Bishop were selected as All-League Honorable Mentions.

Boys Basketball

The Laguna Blanca boys basketball squad earned three All-Tri-Valley League honorees, led by an All-League First Team season from junior forward Braylin Glomah.

Junior guard Jackson Steele was the team’s lone representative on the All-League Second Team, and senior guard Chase Meyer picked up an All-League Honorable Mention recognition.

Girls Basketball

The Cate girls basketball team was the lone winter sport on campus, competing in the Frontier League and earning a spot in the CIF-SS D9 playoffs.

Senior center Emerson Evans, senior guard Jasper Shelmerdine and sophomore guard Chelsea Newlove played key roles in the team’s run to the postseason and were rewarded as All-Frontier League First Team selections.

Meanwhile, senior guard Maia Holmes and sophomore guard Maree Hawkins represented the present and the future of the program with All-League Second Team seasons.

Speaking of the future, freshman guard Alice Zhang started her high school career on a high note with an All-League Honorable Mention nod. 

Girls Water Polo

Senior Madeline Losey and junior Violet Monda were some of the top difference makers for the Rams in the pool, representing the team on the All-Tri-Valley League Second Team.

The trio of senior Carmen Lack, junior Betsy Peters and sophomore Maria Salyards rounded out the Cate All-Tri-Valley League honorees as Honorable Mentions.
