Cate’s girls tennis team lost at sixth-seeded Oak Park, 11-7, in a CIF-SS Division 2 first-round playoff match on Wednesday.
Alyna Takahashi went 2-1 on the day at No 1 singles for the Rams, who fell behind 5-1 in the first round.
Cate rallied mightily in the second round, with a tie-break win for freshman Claire Bianchi against Oak Park No. 3 Shrya Alavarti, helping to keep the match from getting out of reach. Ella and Colette Chang came back from 1-3 down to add a doubles win and Tunnell/Alijani also won, bringing the match score back to 7-5.
Oak Park took a 9-7 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, and their No. 1 and 2 doubles teams rallied for wins to clinch the victory.
Cate finishes the season at 6-4.
