Babacar Pouye scored 23 points and the Cate boys’ streak reached 12 Thursday with a 64-26 home win against Frontier League rival Grace Brethren.
And in running the Rams’ league record to 6-0 (12-3 overall), coach Andy Gil gave a shout-out to good old team play.
“When the Cate Rams are running and moving and sharing the ball, they are hard to beat,” Cate coach Andy Gil said.
Freshman Marcus Scudder, he said, “led the charge in the second and finished with eight, sophomore Tyler Martinez is tough on O and D and gave us nine big points, senior Mason Oetgen, our floor general gave us 14, and junior Babacar Pouye had an impressive 23 points with blocks and dunks and 3’s.”
Cate finishes the league season Friday at Villanova, at 6 p.m. The Rams are ranked sixth in CIF-SS Division 4A.
“Impressed with this group,” Gil said. “They play hard, they have fun, and they compete. Everyone contributes day in and day out at practice and that is why we are a hard team to beat.”
