Cate cross country senior Sophie Blank captured the TCAA Championship on Thursday to headline the Rams at the meet at Camino Real Park in Ventura.
Blank crossed the finish line with a time of 19:13, tying her season-best mark.
“Sophie has been the leader of our girls program for the past three years, and we couldn’t be happier that she ended her TCAA career as a champion,” Cate head coach Tim Weir said. “Sophie has to be one of the kindest, most hard-working student-athletes we have at Cate.
“Her leadership this year, with several new runners to the team, has been outstanding. As evidence of that, our girls finished second and qualified for the CIF-SS Prelims despite having four new runners in our top seven.”
The Rams’ boys squad also punched its ticket to the CIF-SS prelims, taking third place in the meet.
Ati Zwieback’s fourth-place time of 15:46 led the way, while Jackson Steele took 10th at 16:48 and Liam Christiansen recorded a personal-best time of 17:27.
“We are excited to continue our streak of having both teams qualify for the Prelims. They are all looking forward to running well next Friday at Mt. Sac,” Weir said.
