Playing in 100-plus degree weather, the CCA ’09 Girls won their pool with a 2-0-1 record. They tied FC Tucson, 3-3, and defeated Charleston Soccer of South Carolina, 4-1, and Florida’s Pinecrest Premier, 2-0.

The CCA ’09 team consists of: Meleeya Alaniz, Lulu Aurell, Hazel Burgess, Sarah Daniels, Sofia Faraoni, Angela Guerrero, Jasmine Lind, Lynette Miguel, Gianna Padron, Jaslene Perez, Jennifer Polunets, Hannah Ricci, Madeleine Savellano, Cami Sparks, Sofia Turenchalk, Karina Urzua, Ella Valdez-Lindgren, Maleka Wilcox and goalie Kana Wolf.

The team is coached by Billy Gallagher and Willie Sims.

The Central Coast Academy was formed when the Santa Barbara Soccer Club and the Kickers Soccer Club agreed to join forces to create a premier platform for girls soccer in the region.

The academy’s mission is to “provide girls in the 2003-2009 age groups a pathway to compete at the highest levels on the Central Coast,” said the organization’s website.
