The Central Coast Academy Girls 2009 soccer team finished as runner-up in the Under-13 Division at the Development Player League National Championships in Dallas, falling 2-0 against the San Diego Force on Sunday.
It was the only loss in the tournament for the Santa Barbara-based CCA squad, which went 3-1-1.
San Diego did not allow a goal and scored 16 goals in its five tournament games.
The CCA ’09 Girls were one of 16 teams in the country that qualified for the national tournament. They received added vocal support from the Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s 2006 Boys Academy, which was in Dallas for a different tournament.
The CCA ’09 team consists of: Meleeya Alaniz, Lulu Aurell, Hazel Burgess, Sarah Daniels, Sofia Faraoni, Angela Guerrero, Jasmine Lind, Lynette Miguel, Gianna Padron, Jaslene Perez, Jennifer Polunets, Hannah Ricci, Madeleine Savellano, Cami Sparks, Sofia Turenchalk, Karina Urzua, Ella Valdez-Lindgren, Maleka Wilcox and goalie Kana Wolf. The team is coached by Billy Gallagher and Willie Sims.
