The city of Buellton, Palm Communities, and the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara (HASBARCO) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Polo Village, a new 49-unit affordable housing development, 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28.

Polo Village, at 560 McMurray Road, Buellton, offers high-quality, affordable housing for families, veterans, and individuals in need of stable homes, according to HASBARCO.

The development includes a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments reserved for households earning 30% to 60% of the area median income.

Polo Village also offers a community building with offices, meeting space, a computer lab, and a multipurpose room. Outdoor amenities include a children’s play area, multi-sport ball court, barbecue and picnic areas, and landscaped open space.

“Polo Village represents the very best of what we can achieve when cities, nonprofit partners, and developers come together to expand housing opportunities,” said Bob Havlicek, HASBARCO executive director.

“This community is providing affordable homes and strong foundations for families to thrive here in the Santa Ynez Valley,” he said. “We’re especially grateful to Palm Communities for their steadfast partnership and vision, bringing deep expertise and heart to every step of the development process.”

“It was a complicated site, and everyone worked diligently to complete this beautiful community,” said Dan Horn, president of Palm Communities.

“I am grateful for the tremendous effort from the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara and the County Building, Safety and Fire departments, the leadership and staff at the city of Buellton, Sunseri, Joel Baker, and my team, led by Erik Halter,” Horn said.

The project was made possible through the collaboration of Palm Communities, HASBARCO, city of Buellton, and multiple state and federal funding agencies, including the California Statewide Communities Development Authority.

After the opening ceremony, guests are invited to tour the new housing community.
