Santa Barbara County will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Santa Barbara County Probation Department building, 8:15-8:45 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 1019 Garden St., Santa Barbara.

The new Probation Department building will streamline services by consolidating all south county probation-related services in one central location, the county said.

The facility will serve both adult and juvenile clients, and will house programming previously conducted at the Probation Report and Resource Center.

The consolidation is designed to enhance service delivery, improve client outcomes, and foster a more efficient and cohesive approach to probation services.

Speakers at the event will include: General Services director Kirk Lagerquist; county chief probation officer Holly Benton, First District Supervisor Das Williams, and Fifth District Supervisor Steve Lavagnino.

The ceremony will be held adjacent to the construction zone for the new building.
