San Marcos girls water polo asserted its dominance offensively in a 21-12 win over Buena in the Channel League Semifinals on Tuesday at San Marcos.

With the Royals’ victory and Dos Pueblos’ two wins on Tuesday, the two teams will meet in the Channel League title game on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Dos Pueblos’ Elings Aquatic Center.

The two teams will be fresh in each other’s minds as they met on Monday in the regular season finale where the Royals came away with a 14-6 win.

Dos Pueblos

The Chargers swept their doubleheader against Oxnard and Ventura on Tuesday in Ventura to punch their ticket into the Channel League championship game.

Dos Pueblos opened the day with a dominant 19-1 rout of Oxnard that featured standout defensive performances from up and down the roster.

Megan Garner and Reagan Mack combined for five blocks while both Juliet Wirtes and Alina King ended the game with three steals.

Offensively, Hana Abel and Dev Wigo scored four goals apiece while King also dished out six assists.

The Chargers followed that up with another strong offensive performance in a 16-8 win over Ventura.

Wigo had another big scoring game with seven of the team’s 16 goals while King once again was the main facilitator to the tune of seven assists.

Talia Marshall had a strong all-around game with three goals and three steals while Garner collected six blocks, three steals and a goal.

Santa Barbara High

The Dons dropped their first-round tournament matchup with Buena by a score of 14-8 on Tuesday at San Marcos.

Juliana Horton had a strong performance on both ends of the pool with five goals and four steals.

Meanwhile, Naleah La Riba-Kveta scored twice and Rose Nelley tallied one goal, three assists and three exclusions earned.

Santa Barbara High (14-14) will now play a doubleheader on Wednesday in Ventura, taking on Rio Mesa at 2 p.m. and Oxnard at either 4:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. If the Dons sweep, they will earn fifth place in the Channel League.
