Santa Barbara started the playoff campaign at home Thursday with a sweep of Burbank-Burroughs in the CIF-SS Division 4 competition.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-12, 25-15.

Shae Delany led a balanced scoring effort with 10 kills, seven digs and an ace. Whitney Meister had eight kills, Nicole Schuetz six and Emmy Werner and Gracie Meinzer five apiece.
“The first half of the first set was tight, but strong serve receive and serving helped us pull away and win the first set,” Santa Barbara coach Kristin Hempy said. “After that, we capitalized on our foundation and fired up our hitters in the second two sets. We were in a good rhythm and firing on all cylinders tonight. Burroughs had a strong block but we were able to work around it.”
Meinzer added 24 assists, eight digs and an ace. Schuetz had two blocks and three aces, and Tessa de Albergaria led in digs with 12.
“Shout out to Shae for consistency on offense and defense, and playing tough all the way around the court,” Hempy said. “Props also to our opposite hitter Whitney Meister for coming in and making a big impact on offense tonight with eight kills.”
The Dons, now 22-7, will take on Xavier Prep on Saturday in Palm Desert in a Round 2 game.
