The Righetti High School student found with a loaded firearm on campus this week faces 10 felony charges in Santa Maria Superior Court, including two counts of attempted murder for other incidents in March.
Felix Alejandro Antonio Leon, 18, of Los Alamos was taken into custody Wednesday at the Orcutt campus.
A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s school resource deputy found the gun after contacting Leon when Santa Maria Police Department members showed up with an arrest warrant.
On Friday, the county District Attorney’s Office filed a criminal complaint charging Leon with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, three counts of unlawful firearm activity, and one count of shooting at an occupied vehicle.
Other charges include possession of a firearm in or on school grounds and unlawful possession of ammunition prohibited by prior conviction. The complaint identified the weapon as a .380 handgun.
A second 18-year-old, Luis Alberto Mijandos Carmona of Santa Maria, was arrested in early April.
He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm, plus shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
Both also face a number of sentencing enhancements.
The criminal complaint says the first attempted murder occurred March 3, while the second took place March 19. Both involved the use of a handgun.
Leon, who turned 18 in early January, is also accused of participating in the crimes for the benefit of a criminal street gang identified as West Park.
The pair entered not guilty pleas during their arraignment hearing in Santa Maria Superior Court on Friday.
They were ordered to return to court Thursday when the judge and attorneys may set a date for the preliminary hearing.
Both remain in the custody of the Santa Barbara County Jail without bail.
