Local water polo players Charlotte Raisin and Lucy Haaland-Ford were members of the gold medal-winning U.S. Women’s Youth National Team at the Pan American Aquatics U17 Championships in Bauru, Brazil.

Raisin is a freshman and Haaland-Ford a sophomore at San Marcos High.

Team USA routed host nation Brazil, 14-2, in the gold-medal game. Amber Nowaczek, who plays club water polo for 805 Santa Barbara with Raisin and Haaland, was named the tournament MVP.

Nowaczek scored five goals and Raisin had two in the championship game.
