The community is invited to come out and show their support as 11 elementary schools and two junior highs in the Santa Maria-Bonita School District (SMBSD) participate in the SMBSD Cheer Showcase.

The event will be at 5 p.m. Monday, May 11 at the Santa Maria High School gym.

Cheerleading is offered as a spring sport at a number of SMBSD elementary schools and year-round at the junior-high level.

The spring showcase is a display of teamwork, skill and commitment, and is the capstone of the cheer season, the district said.

“The spring Cheer Showcase highlights the hard work, school pride, and dedication of our junior high and elementary cheer teams,” said Maurecia Rea-Clark, elementary sports lead and teacher on special assignment for physical education and health.

“This is a great opportunity to come together and celebrate a successful cheer season,” Rea-Clark said.
