A kitten has been named “Lucky” after being rescued from Highway 101 in Summerland by a California Highway Patrol officer.
Shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday, Officer Nathaniel Foster was northbound on the freeway when he spotted the tiny feline in the right-hand lane.
“Without hesitation, Officer Foster stopped traffic and safely rescued the kitty before it could be struck by passing vehicles,” Officer Jonathan Gutierrez told Noozhawk.
With the help of a bystander, Lucky was taken to the CHP office in Goleta before being turned over to Santa Barbara County Animal Services.
“Until we discover this kitty’s real name, we’re calling her Lucky, because this little adventurer was certainly in the right place at the right time when Officer Foster came to the rescue!” Gutierrez said.
Anyone who recognizes Lucky or knows whom the kitty belongs is asked to contact Animal Services at 5473 Overpass Road in Goleta.
“Let’s help Lucky find their way back home,” Gutierrez said.
