The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in its investigation of a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in December on Highway 101 in Montecito.

Michael Fernandez, 32, of Ventura, was fatally injured in the collision on the southbound freeway near San Ysidro Road at about 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 6., according to the CHP.

“For reasons still under investigation, the rider collided with a truck tractor combination and impacted the roadway,” CHP Officer Jonathan Gutierrez said. “The rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Santa Barbara, California Highway Patrol office at 805.770.4800.

A GoFundMe account to benefit Fernandez‘s family and 10-year-old daughter was established. As of Friday, it had raised $9,735 of a $15,000 goal.
