Christian McGrath has been named to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art Board of Trustees. His term began on Feb. 6.

McGrath retired to Santa Barbara in 2021 after serving as general counsel and managing director of GTCR, a Chicago-based private equity firm. Before joining GTCR, McGrath managed legal affairs for several domestic and European business units of Sara Lee Corporation.

He began his legal career with Latham & Watkins, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, finance, and general corporate advice.

He received a B.A. from Stanford University and a J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School.

McGrath serves as a trustee of Choate Rosemary Hall, and prior board affiliations include Lookingglass Theatre, Chicago Zoological Association, Chicago Children’s Museum, and American Investment Council.
