Community members can get sustainably forested silver-tip fir trees from Northern California during Christmas at The Nursery, a fundraiser benefiting Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG) agriculture education, and healthy eating programs for kids in Santa Barbara County.
The trees can be picked up only between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Plantel Nurseries, 2275 E. Clark Ave., Santa Maria, or they can be delivered for a $75 delivery charge.

The trees are being donated by Rob Paulus, a retired Cal Fire battalion chief, and his family to support SEEAG and its ag-education efforts.
Paulus has a 200-acre parcel of private land near the northern Sierra Nevada mountain range. He thins the overgrown forest on the property to reduce the risk of forest fires and to help restore the natural environment.

Tree sizes and prices are 6 feet to 9 feet tall, $175; and 8 feet to 10 feet tall, $225.
SEEAG is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, so all tree purchases are tax-deductible.
Founded in 2008, SEEAG aims to help young students understand the origins of their food by bridging the gap between agriculture and consumption through its agricultural education programming.
SEEAG’s The Farm Lab program teaches kids about the origins of their food and the importance of local farmland by providing schools with classroom agricultural education and free field trips to farms.
