Santa Barbara High baseball’s season came to a close with a 7-0 loss to Kaiser in the CIF-SS D5 Quarterfinals on Friday in Fontana.

The Dons struggled to get anything going on the offensive end, totaling just three hits compared to the Cats’ hits.

Kaiser scored one run in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to slowly pull away from Santa Barbara High.

Max Weddle ended his high school career on a high note, collecting two of the Dons’ three hits. Milo Winckler went 1-for-3 to round out the offense.

Santa Barbara High ends its season with an overall record of 16-15.

North Torrance 10, Carpinteria High 0 (Div. 7)

The Warriors were blanked by North Torrance in the CIF-SS D7 Quarterfinals on Friday in Torrance.

“Our roster of 13 really needs to lean on each other and trust the process for things to go our way,” Carpinteria High head coach Pat Coonet said. “North was disruptive with their energy, good play between the lines, and in creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.  They applied a ton of pressure.”

Carpinteria High also couldn’t get anything going with its bats, as Jonah Hernandez had the team’s lone hit.

Meanwhile, North Torrance showcased consistent offense throughout the game, working deep into counts and erupting for a six-run third inning to pull away for the eventual win.

The Warriors rounded out a strong 2026 campaign with an overall record of 19-6.

“We all looked each other in the eyes at the end, and the overwhelming sentiment was gratitude.  Players thanked coaches, coaches thanked players, and the team thanked fans,” Cooney said. “This might be a record for the most cohesive group that we have ever coached. Because of it, they overachieved without a doubt. A testament to what is possible when everyone in the program is pulling on the same end of the rope.

“It speaks volumes for the seniors who provided the grit and leadership as they set high goals for themselves years ago. The 2026 Warriors will be remembered as a great team.”
