Five local high school girls beach volleyball teams punched their tickets to the CIF-SS playoffs this season, with their divisions and first-round matchups revealed on Friday.
The three-time defending Channel League champion San Marcos Royals lead the local squads as the No. 4 seed in Division 1, but the Santa Barbara area is represented in all four playoff brackets.
San Marcos (Div. 1)
The Royals rolled through the regular season, going 23-2 overall and undefeated against league opponents. Their only two losses were to Mira Costa and Redondo Union, the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the Div. 1 bracket, respectively.
San Marcos was rewarded for its strong season with a home match to begin its playoff run, as it is set to host Los Alamitos at Ridgway Courts on Thursday at 3 p.m.
Los Alamitos is coming off a 14-1 regular season in which it captured the Sunset League championship.
Santa Barbara High (Div. 2)
The Dons were the second-best team in town this spring, going 13-9 in the regular season on their way to a third-place finish in the Channel League and a spot in the CIF-SS Div. 2 playoffs.
Santa Barbara High will begin its quest for a CIF-SS title on the road, heading down to Torrance to take on Bishop Montgomery on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Bishop Montgomery won the Del Rey League title in the regular season with a record of 10-1.
Dos Pueblos (Div. 3)
The Chargers rounded out the local Channel League schools in the playoffs, as their 8-10 record and fourth-place showing earned a bid into the CIF-SS Div. 3 bracket.
Dos Pueblos was granted a home match for its playoff opener and will roll out the welcome mats for Downey High on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Downey secured a second-place finish in the Gateway League after putting together a 13-5 season.
Bishop Diego (Div. 4)
The Cardinals captured a Tri-Valley League championship this season and ended with a record of 9-4, and they were rewarded with a spot in the CIF-SS Div. 4 playoffs.
Bishop Diego will look to defend its home courts in the opening round when it hosts Costa Mesa on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Costa Mesa went 8-10 in the regular season and finished as the Empire League runner-up.
Laguna Blanca (Div. 4)
The Owls went 5-3 throughout the regular season and placed fourth in the Tri-Valley League, earning a place in the CIF-SS Div. 4 playoffs.
Laguna Blanca will make the trip down to Orange County to face off against Norco in the first round on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Norco finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record to take third place in the Ivy League.
