It was another successful spring for the Santa Barbara area high school boys tennis squads, as six teams will open up the CIF-SS playoffs next Wednesday.

While there is plenty of action in town, the headliner will be a local clash to open the Division 3 bracket. Here are the first-round matchups as they currently stand.

Santa Barbara High @ Cate (Division 3)

The Tri-Valley League champion Rams are set to welcome local rival and the co-Channel League champion Santa Barbara High Dons on Wednesday at 3 p.m. to begin the postseason.

Cate went a dominant 11-1 in the regular season and are looking to repeat as CIF-SS Div. 3 champions, as the Rams defeated San Marcos in the title match last year.

Meanwhile, the Dons are coming off a strong 10-3 record in a regular season in which they shared the league title with Dos Pueblos.

Chino Hills @ Dos Pueblos (Div. 4)

Speaking of the Chargers, they will open up their quest for a CIF-SS Div. 4 title at home on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Chino Hills.

The Chargers put together a 12-1 regular season to share the league championship, while Chino Hills finished the year at 8-5 to earn third place in the Baseline League.

Rancho Mirage @ San Marcos (Div. 5)

The Royals rounded out the local Channel League teams to host their opening round matchup, as they will roll out the welcome mats for Rancho Mirage on Wednesday at 3 p.m. for the Div. 5 opener.

San Marcos’ overall record of 5-9 was good for third place in the league standings, while Rancho Mirage’s record of 13-5 placed it third in the Desert Empire League.

Golden Valley @ Laguna Blanca (Div. 5)

The Owls will also represent the 805 in the Div. 5 playoff bracket, as they will play host to Golden Valley for their opener on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Laguna Blanca finished the season in third place in the Tri-Valley League with its 9-3 mark, and Golden Valley is coming into the matchup with a 13-4 record and a third-place showing in the Foothill League.

Carpinteria High @ Garden Grove (Div. 6)

The Warriors were slotted into the Division 6 bracket and will begin their playoffs on the road as they head down to Orange County to square off with Orange Grove on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Carpinteria earned a co-Citrus Coast League championship in the regular season with its record of 10-6, while Garden Grove registered a second-place finish in the Golden West League at 12-4.
