Dos Pueblos boys volleyball punched its ticket to the CIF-SS Div. 5 Quarterfinals with a sweep of Hemet on Friday in Hemet.
The Chargers turned in a balanced attack and were strong in serve-receive on their way to the sweep, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15.
“It was a true team effort tonight, and we played hard,” Dos Pueblos coach Will McCracken said.
The Chargers will remain on the road for their quarterfinal matchup, as they will head down to take on El Dorado High on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
In Friday’s victory, Ben Wojogbe and Evan Daugherty put up nearly identical stat lines. Wojogbe tallied nine kills, four digs, two aces and two blocks, while Daugherty ended with nine kills, three digs, two aces and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Caleb Damron and Cyrus Jay held it down in the middle with seven and five kills, respectively. The duo of Keenan Bower and Kevin McGibben combined for 28 assists for the Chargers.
Dos Pueblos is now 16-13 on the season heading into the quarterfinal round.
Servite 3, Santa Barbara High 0 (Div. 3)
The Dons had their season come to an end with a sweeping loss to Servite in the second round of the CIF-SS Div. 3 playoffs on Friday, 14-25, 14-25, 21-25.
“In game three, we finally woke up and started playing as a team. Unfortunately, it was a little too late, and we couldn’t put it all together tonight,” Santa Barbara High head coach Chad Arneson said.
“This was definitely a tough loss to swallow. I’m proud of these boys and what they’ve accomplished this year. Obviously, it wasn’t the way we wanted it to end. Seniors Jackson McDermott, Kristian Dybdahl, Marco Diipadova and Henry Becker will be missed.”
Maddox Denver dished out 22 assists for the Dons, while Hayes Costner supplied a team-high 10 kills.
