The Santa Barbara area once again proved this spring that it is one of the richest in the state in terms of volleyball talent, as all seven local high school boys volleyball teams will compete in the CIF-SS playoffs.

From the Channel League champion San Marcos Royals to the Tri-Valley League champion Bishop Diego Cardinals, local student-athletes will kick off their journey towards a CIF-SS championship next week.

San Marcos (Div. 1)

The Royals were the best team in town all season long, rolling to an impressive 23-2 record and another Channel League championship to secure a spot in the top playoff bracket.

San Marcos will play host to a strong Santa Margarita program on Wednesday at 6 p.m. inside the Thunderhut to open the Division 1 playoffs.

Santa Margarita is fresh off a regular season when it went 28-10 and won the Trinity League title.

Santa Barbara High (Div. 3)

The Dons put together a 16-7 record to earn themselves second place in the Channel League and a spot in the CIF-SS Div. 3 postseason.

Santa Barbara High will also begin the playoffs on its home court, playing host to Diamond Ranch on Wednesday at 6 p.m. inside J.R. Richards Gym.

Diamond Ranch captured the Mt. Baldy League championship during the regular season after finishing with a strong record of 23-4.

Dos Pueblos (Div. 5)

The Chargers slotted into third place in the Channel League with a record of 14-13 and earned the No. 1 seed in the CIF-SS Div. 5 playoff bracket.

As the top seed, Dos Pueblos will roll out the welcome mats for Aquinas High for the playoff opener on Wednesday at 6 p.m. inside Sovine Gym.

Aquinas High shared the Ambassador League title with its regular-season record of 14-8.

Bishop Diego (Div. 5)

The Cardinals will also be competing in the CIF-SS Div. 5 playoff bracket after winning the Tri-Valley League title and going 23-8 during the regular season.

Bishop Diego will continue the trend of local teams hosting their openers, as it will host Rio Hondo Prep on Wednesday at 6 p.m. inside the Brick House.

Rio Hondo Prep had a strong regular season of its own, going 17-4 on its way to a Prep League title.

Carpinteria High (Div. 6)

The Warriors were solid from start to finish in the regular season, earning a 14-5 record and a second-place showing in the Citrus Coast League to reach the Div. 6 playoffs.

Carpinteria High will hit the road and head south to take on Capistrano Valley Christian in the opening round on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Capistrano Valley Christian snuck into the playoffs with a 7-14 record, taking third place in the San Joaquin League.

Providence (Div. 7)

The Patriots earned an at-large bid into the CIF-SS Div. 7 playoffs after going 12-10 in the regular season and competing in the Tri-Valley League.

Providence will make the trip down to Santa Ana to open its playoff run against Godinez on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Godinez reached the playoffs with a sub-.500 record, as 8-13 in the regular season was enough to place third in the Empire League.

Laguna Blanca (Div. 8)

The Owls rounded out the local teams in the postseason after going 6-8 in the regular season and taking third place in the Tri-Valley League.

Laguna Blanca is set to host Lynwood for the opening round matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Hope Ranch.

Lynwood earned an at-large bid out of the Mid-Cities League and finished the regular season with a record of 8-7.
