San Clemente 52, San Marcos 29 (Div. 2)

The Royals struggled on the offensive end in a road loss to San Clemente in the CIF-SS Div. 2 playoff opener on Thursday.

“We came out playing a little scared, not playing with confidence,” San Marcos head coach Devin Uyesaka said. “I like how we played more aggressively in the second half, but we didn’t take care of the ball as well. San Clemente is a good squad, but we played hard until the end.

“I’m proud of my girls and the season we had. My seniors always brought the energy and effort to practices and games every day and set the standard for our team for next year. Losing this game shows us where we need to be for next year, and I know my girls are going to come back better and stronger next year.”
