Now through Feb. 1, the Lompoc City Fire Department is accepting applications from qualified, Lompoc-based nonprofit groups to be entered into this year’s lottery for an opportunity to sell Safe and Sane fireworks.

Permits to sell Safe and Sane fireworks will be limited to six sale stands and locations in the City of Lompoc. Permits will be issued only to organized and established nonprofit organizations within Lompoc city limits. All qualified nonprofit groups will be chosen by lottery, with priority given to new applicants.

Applications are available on the City of Lompoc’s website at www.cityoflompoc.com, and application hard copies will also be available at Lompoc Fire Station 51, 115 South G St., Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Applications must be filed in-person at Lompoc Fire Station 51 by 5 p.m. on Feb. 1.

Applicants will be notified by Feb. 15 if their application does not meet requirements for consideration. The lottery for determining which qualifying nonprofit organizations will receive firework sale permits is set to take place on Feb. 25.  All nonprofit organizations whose applications have been selected will have until March 31 to submit the required information.

Last year’s nonprofit groups granted firework sales permission will be considered for an alternate position if these groups apply for the 2024 lottery, and entered into the lottery in the event there are fewer than six new applicants accepted and approved.
