Three public television channels produced by the city of Santa Maria are now available for free across smart TV and smart phone platforms in the City of Santa Maria TV app.

The new app is available on Amazon smart TV’s, Apple TV, Roku streaming devices, the iPhone App Store, and the Google Play Store for Android phones.

The City Manager’s Office Communication’s Division manages Santa Maria Community Television, which includes three PEG (Public, Education and Government) cable channels that showcase city services and provide community access.

The three channels are provided on local Comcast Cable channels 25, 24 and 23, respectively, as part of Santa Maria’s state franchise agreement with Comcast.

The new app makes the city’s public programming accessible to anyone with internet access and a smart device.

“Santa Maria residents have more access than ever to important information from the City on Government Channel 23, enriching and informative content on Education Channel 24, and a connection to their community on Public Channel 25,” said Joe Payne, PEG production manager.

“We are excited to expand access to Santa Maria Community Television at no extra cost to locals without a traditional cable subscription,” he said.

Interested residents can download the streaming app from the Amazon, Apple TV, Roku, iPhone, or Android app stores by searching “City of Santa Maria TV.”

The app provides livestreams of all three city channels with no commercials 24/7. The channels are also available anytime through an internet browser on the city’s website.
