The 805 Santa Barbara Water Polo Club’s 14U Boys won gold at the 2021 Hale Tournament in Corona over the weekend.
The team defeated Tsunami 13-6 in the semifinal and then bested SBU A in the final for the championship.
The 805 team advanced first in bracket play with wins over SBU B, Corona del Mar and Riverside.
Coached by Kelsie Karam, the 14 boys include Eli Carnaghe, Shane Davis, Jonathon Dollar, Tarkan Ezal, Kane Fogg, Cooper Haws, Alden Klein, Jacob Magrid, Aricin Marshall, Jackson Roessler and A.J. Scarborough.
Sam Rich played in goal for the 14s. Alden Klein, Kane Fogg and Shane Davis led scoring for the 14s while Rich was outstanding in goal.
This was the first three-day tournament for the 14s, who spent much of the past year restricted to swimming only practices. The team previously won a slate of JO qualification games and will travel to Orange County for the 2021 Junior Olympics, the world’s largest water polo tournament, this weekend.
