It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Clyde Harvey Stokes, who died on March 1, 2025, at the age of 96.
Clyde was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, whose legacy of service, hard work, and love for life will be cherished forever.
Born on Jan. 7, 1929, Clyde served his country with honor as a staff sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice.
After his military service, Clyde went on to work as a pipe fitter, retiring from the Pipe Fitters Union after 35 years of dedicated work. Additionally, Clyde was a skilled commercial fisherman, welder, fabricator, and jewelry maker, always finding joy in creating and working with his hands.
Clyde was married to his beloved wife Marjorie Stokes in 1956. They shared 55 wonderful years together until Marjorie’s passing in 2011.
Clyde’s love for his family was unwavering, and he is survived by his two daughters Cindi Stokes Sanchez (Mike), and Cathy Lees (Greg); as well as his three grandchildren Teresa Phillips, Cristi Reyes (Mark), and Amanda Sanchez; and five great-grandchildren Regan, Riley, Paige, Spencer and Hazel.
In his free time, Clyde found joy in the outdoors, whether it was scuba diving, hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying nature’s beauty. His passion for adventure was matched only by his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor, which touched everyone who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14 at Santa Maria Cemetery.
