The Santa Barbara Coastal Warriors 8U club baseball squad won the gold bracket championship of the NCS Summer Slam in San Luis Obispo last weekend.
The Warriors took down the Central Coast Venom in the semifinals before dominating the LB Blaze in the title game.
Semifinals: Warriors 12, Venom 6
The Warriors’ semifinal win was powered by a four-RBI performance from Campbell Arnold, who roped a three-run homer in the fourth and added an RBI single.
Despite the final score, the Venom were the first team to crack the scoreboard. However, the Warriors settled in and came up with some clutch hits to take the lead and never look back.
Nolan Smith earned the win on the mound, tossing 2 ⅔ innings of solid relief. Meanwhile, Mason Herrera, Bosley Graves and Campbell collected two hits apiece.
Championship: Warriors 15, Blaze 0
The championship game was all Warriors from the beginning, as they erupted for 13 runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead.
The big opening frame was highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Raiden Arimoto-Petit.
Arimoto-Petit also started the game for the Warriors, tossing a shutout to clinch the championship victory.
As a team, the Warriors totaled 10 hits with Mateo Lynn, Teddy Hathaway, Colton Ryan and Graves picking up two hits each.
On the weekend, the trio of Barrett Jennings, Mason Sanchez and Luke Munoz showcased plenty of patience by accumulating 13 total walks.
The Warriors are managed by Aaron Lynn with assistant coaches Isaac Munoz, Matt Smith and Chad Sanchez.
