Julie Weiner has been appointed chief development officer at CommUnify, a Community Action Agency. Weiner has more than 20 years of experience driving revenue in the nonprofit, arts, education, and corporate sectors.

Before joining CommUnify, Weiner served as chief development officer for the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, where she led all fundraising efforts. She also served as director of development for UCSB Division of Humanities and Fine Arts for 5½ years, where she was responsible for major gifts.

“CommUnify is so pleased to have Julie joining our team,” said Patricia Keelean, CommUnify CEO. “She is bringing a new level of expertise to our development and communications program.

“Equally important, Santa Barbara County is Julie’s home, so her knowledge and deep understanding of community needs, coupled with her vision for expanding CommUnify’s visibility in the community, will ultimately support our mission of helping families to become financially secure and self-sufficient.”

Weiner is a former television and software executive, and served as director of international sales at Commission Junction and Citrix Online before co-founding the cloud computing company NTRglobal. During her media and technology career, she worked both nationally and internationally.

“Having grown up in Santa Barbara, I care very deeply about improving the economic security and self-sufficiency of individuals and families throughout Santa Barbara County,” Weiner said. “I am honored to join CommUnify’s committed team, and to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on so many lives.”

Weiner completed graduate studies in law, management, and audiovisual communications at the Pantheon-Sorbonne in Paris, France, after earning a bachelor’s degree in mass communications at UCLA. Weiner has served as a board member for the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, and as a fundraising volunteer for Ensemble Theater Company.
