Santa Barbara County invites community members to attend the third Public Design Workshop for the New Orcutt Library Project, 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 at Oasis Center, 420 Soares Ave., Orcutt.
“The workshop marks an important milestone in the project’s development, as the design team presents the library’s schematic design, a comprehensive vision that has been shaped by months of community engagement and public feedback,” the county said.

Since the project began, the community has helped define what the future library should be through participation in public workshops and submitting feedback.
Ideas and priorities shared by community members have influenced key aspects of the proposed design, including spaces for learning and technology; opportunities for indoor and outdoor gathering; children’s and teen-focused areas; and the overall character of the facility.
Workshop attendees will be able to see how community input has translated into the proposed schematic design and learn more about the project’s progress.
The design team will present the updated building and site layout, architectural character, and major program elements while seeking additional feedback that will help guide the project into the next phase of design.
“This library will serve Orcutt families for generations to come,” said Bob Nelson, chair of the Board of Supervisors.
“We’ve asked the community to help shape this project from the beginning, and this workshop is an opportunity for residents to see how their ideas are being incorporated into a library that reflects the character and needs of Orcutt,” he said.
Community feedback continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of the New Orcutt Library, and residents are encouraged to attend and be part of the conversation, organizers said.
Children are welcome at the workshop; a craft area and family-friendly activities will be available, along with light refreshments.
