More than 50 community members and representatives from a variety of organizations learned more about steps being taken to craft the city of Goleta’s Homelessness Strategic Plan during an update session Feb. 19 at the Goleta Valley Community Center.
Participants were asked to weigh in on the prioritization of suggestions to be included in the draft plan. Community input is seen an essential part of Goleta’s effort to develop its first comprehensive Homelessness Strategic Plan.
Suggestions made at the meeting will be included in the Homelessness Strategic Plan outline, which will be brought before the City Council at its next meeting, Tuesday, March 3.
City staff previously held a Community Open House in December, as well as stakeholder meetings, and released a community survey (which has received more than 430 responses).
The public engagement is part of a larger effort to address homelessness, including best practice discussions with communities nationwide, and enhanced partnerships on regional homelessness efforts.
