Connie Rojas Nelson, a resident of Goleta, passed away peacefully in Santa Barbara after a valiant struggle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 90 years old.
Connie was born in Paso Robles, California, to Maria Hernandez and Victor Rojas. She was the youngest of her siblings and grew up in Goleta and Santa Barbara, attending local schools and graduating from Santa Barbara High School.
Connie’s compassionate nature led her to become a caregiver, and her family was her greatest source of joy.
She had a passion for cooking and hosting family gatherings, whether it was a cozy holiday dinner or a lively barbecue.
She was also a fashionista who loved shopping and always dressed impeccably. Connie was an avid reader, a passionate dancer to cumbias, and a devout Catholic.
Connie is survived by her ex-husband Joseph; children Josef, Paul, David, David’s wife Mary, Laura, Peter Kim, and Rosanne. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter Joyce, and her beloved son-in-law Jon.
Connie is also survived by her grandchildren Valerie, Johnny, Ashley, Mia and Isaac; 15 great-grandchildren; one second-great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Connie’s legacy of love, faith and generosity will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Memorial Mass for Connie will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 5444 Hollister Ave., Santa Barbara.
Mom, you will truly be missed. We hope you are dancing in heaven, free, joyful, surrounded by eternal light and love.
Vaya con Dios.
