The Bishop Diego boys basketball program announced the hiring of Corey Adam as the new varsity head coach on Saturday.

Adam was an assistant coach for the Cardinals during the 2025-26 season and has previously served as the head boys basketball coach at Santa Barbara High and Carpinteria High.

He will take over for Caleb Richey, who stepped down after one season at the helm of the program. In that season, he led the Cardinals to a Tri-Valley League championship.

Richey accepted a position coaching overseas in both Uganda and the United Arab Emirates.

“We wish [Richey] the best of luck and we’re also very excited to welcome in Coach Adam,” Bishop Diego athletic director John Muller said.

Assistant coach Stephen Davis will remain on the Cardinals’ staff for next season, while Bishop Diego Class of 1996 member Greg Blessing is set to join the coaching staff.
