The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the body discovered last week at Santa Barbara’s Leadbetter Beach as 45-year-old Samuel Micah Dabill.

Passersby alerted the Santa Barbara Police Department to the body the morning of Jan. 15.

SBPD and the Harbor Patrol responded to the beach at 7 a.m., and responding officers confirmed the death, according to police.

The cause of death is under investigation, but foul play is not suspected, according to Sheriff’s-Coroner’s Bureau spokeswoman Raquel Zick.

The investigation could take up to six weeks, she added.
