The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau has released the identity of the driver killed earlier this month in a crash on Highway 101 west of Goleta.

The victim was 25-year-old Scott Kim, a resident of Stevenson Ranch in Los Angeles County.

The California Highway Patrol reported the single-vehicle crash occurred at about 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 4, just south of Dos Pueblos Canyon Road.

The Lexus SUV veered off the southbound roadway and hit a no-parking sign before slamming into a eucalyptus tree, the CHP said.

Emergency personnel provided first aid, but Kim was pronounced dead at the scene, Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said at the time.

One highway lane was shut down for several hours after the early morning collision for the emergency response and investigation.

A GoFundMe account has been established to assist with the family with burial and related expenses.
