Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital has welcomed its first baby of the new year, a girl named Isla, born at 4:41 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1 to parents Jessica and Laurence.

Weighing 8 pounds 16 ounces, and measuring 20.5 inches, Isla’s arrival marked an exciting start to the new year, the hospital said.

As the family begins this new chapter, they shared a fitting sentiment:

The family is doing well and enjoying time together following the baby’s arrival, Cottage Hospital said.
