Firefighters extinguished a laundry room fire at a UC Santa Barbara student housing complex Monday afternoon.

A commercial clothing dryer was reported on fire at 2:59 p.m. at Storke family student housing on the 700 block of Laurel Walk, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department said.

Crews extinguished the structure fire in about 10 minutes.

A lot of smoke poured out of the building during the blaze and it was unclear how much damage, if any, there was to the building itself.

The laundromat is in the office building of the complex.

Crews stayed on the scene after the fire was put out to see if there was any extension into the structure, a County Fire spokesperson wrote in a social media message about the incident.

No further details were available.
