YouthWell is offering two Youth Mental Health First Aid training sessions for adults that will instruct participants in how to recognize, understand and respond appropriately to signs of mental health challenges of varying intensity, as well as substance use disorders.

Blended Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a free 6.5 hour certification course designed to empower parents, educators, first responders, and other caring adults with tools and strategies to create a safe and caring community.

“The No. 1 protective factor in youth mental health is a trusted adult,” YouthWell said. “You can be that trusted adult who is trained with skills and knowledge about what to do and what to say.”

Both trainings also educate on available resources in Santa Barbara County.

To register, visit REGISTER MHFA >. Deadline to register is Thursday, Oct. 31.

The course requires the completion of two hours of self-paced pre-work before attending the ZOOM training on Saturday, Nov. 9.
