A collision in Goleta involving an ambulance sent one person to the hospital with major injuries Sunday night, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The crash occurred shortly before 6:45 p.m. on Hollister Avenue just west of Pacific Oaks Road, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck told Noozhawk.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle that collided with the AMR ambulance was critically injured, Safechuck said, and was taken by another ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The person’s name and details on their condition were not available.

The personnel in the ambulance were not injured, Safechuck said.

Westbound Hollister Avenue was shut down in the area of the collision while the wreckage was removed and the incident was investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
