The Santa Barbara County Animal Care Foundation (SBCACF) will host its Zombie 5K Glow Walk/Run, Saturday, Oct. 17 at Blast 825 Stockyard in Orcutt.
The nighttime, glow-in-the-dark fun run and walk invites the community — including leashed dogs and cats — to rise up and run for the animals in support of the county’s most vulnerable shelter pets.
The event opens with a pre-party, 4-5:45 p.m., featuring a vendor village of local businesses selling goods and sweets, a silent auction, food, and live music.
The 5K Glow Run/Walk begins at 6 p.m., followed by an after-party that continues until 8 p.m., and includes a costume contest for participants to show off their spookiest, most creative looks.
This year’s event welcomes two special guests:
Shorty Rossi, star of Animal Planet’s “Pit Boss,” who will be joined by his dog Agustus for photos and meet-and-greets.
Suzan Vaughn, an animal communication specialist known as the “Animal Whisperer,” who will share a special reading during the event.
“Grab your glow gear and dress your spookiest, it’s time for Santa Barbara County’s most electrifying nighttime 5K,” said Linda Greco, SBCACF Board president.
“Whether you’re walking, running, or shuffling like the undead, this event is for the whole pack, and every ticket helps fund lifesaving care for shelter animals who have nowhere else to turn,” she said.
