Firefighters knocked down a roughly half-acre grass fire near Calzada Avenue and Cimarron Drive in the Santa Ynez Valley Saturday afternoon.

The fire first sparked in a mowed field, and crews converged on the area at around 12:18 p.m., according to Capt. Mike Gray of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Crews “quickly contained” the fire, Gray said, and no injuries or damage were reported.

The cause was under investigation.

“Stay vigilant and prepare your defensible space,” Gray advised.
