City firefighters responded Monday afternoon to a structure fire in a two-story home in downtown Santa Barbara.
Heavy dark smoke could be seen rising from the fire, which was reported at about 2:20 p.m. on the 1200 block of Laguna Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from three sides of the structure, fire Battalion Chief Richard Ames told Noozhawk.

Residences on both sides of the burning structure were evacuated, according to emergency radio traffic.
Crews made an aggressive attack on the flames, and were able to quickly gain control of the fire, Ames said.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
