Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire reported on the east side of the Santa Ynez Valley Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 3 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and Los Padres National Forest responded to the incident in the 3700 block of Mattei Road, off Roblar Avenue. 

A large amount of white and black smoke could be seen rising from the incident site, according to Alert California cameras.

Aircraft resources and bull dozer crews also were dispatched to assist firefighters on the ground. 

Forward progress was stopped on the blaze by 3:30 p.m., County Fire officials said.
