A vegetation fire blackened 10 acres Sunday afternoon on a ranch between Los Alamos and Orcutt. 

Personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department began responding to the incident at 1:45 p.m. on ranch land between Highway 1 and Highway 101. 

The fire on Old Carrara Ranch Road near Highway 135 initially was estimated to be between 3 and 5 acres with the potential to grow to at least 30 acres, according to emergency dispatch reports.

By 2:30 p.m., firefighters reported that forward progress was starting to slow before they later stopped the advancing flames.

Along with crews on the ground, a county helicopter and at least two air tankers were called in to the help fight the fire from above.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged, county Fire Department representatives said.

Firefighters will remain on scene to complete mop up chores through midday Monday.

Alert California cameras showed the fire burning near farm fields on one side and oak trees on another side.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
