Emergency crews stopped forward progress on a 2.5-acre fire near New Cuyama on Thursday evening.
Crews first responded to Highway 166 and Wasioja Road around 7 p.m., according to Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokeswoman Karen Cruz-Orduña.
Forward progress was stopped at 7:36 p.m., according to Cruz-Orduña.
The fire was growing at a moderate rate of speed before it was stopped, according to emergency radio traffic.
