A vegetation fire east of Santa Maria was quickly stopped at 5 acres on Saturday afternoon.
Personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department along with counterparts from Los Padres National Forest and Santa Maria Fire Departments responded to the 4500 block of Tepusquet Road at approximately 4:40 p.m.
Firefighters on the ground and aircraft crews were able to stop forward progress of the fire and get it contained by 6 p.m., according to dispatch reports. Bull dozer crews also assisted in containing the blaze.
The fire burned 5 acres before crews had fully surrounded the blaze.
Crews were warned to look out for downed power lines in the area.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
At approximately the same time, county firefighters also responded to a single-family home burning in the Goleta Valley on Saturday.
